Today's Golf Format at Nature Valley First Tee Open in Pebble Beach

I've pulled this information from www.firstteeopen.com website and then added definitions for those of us who are less familiar with the golf game and common words and phrases.

The event will be LIVE on the golf channel at 5:30-7:30pm CST today through Sunday. I'm hoping that after Addison's Coca Cola Champions Competition win yesterday that it may have created interest in her and they will show her playing. Look for the very TALL, BEAUTIFUL BLONDE, BLUE EYED girl with the cute bow. That will be Addison!

Today's Golf Format

Professionals play all rounds; Junior/Pro teams play ‘gross best ball’; Amateur teams play ‘net best ball’ of foursome

Definition: "Gross," or "gross score" in golf refers to the total number of strokes taken during your round of golf, plus any penalty strokes. In other words, your total score without adjustments: add up the numbers on your scorecard at the end of the round, and that's your gross score.

When "gross score" is used it is usually with in conjunction with or in contrast to net score.

Examples: "My gross score was 92." "I had a gross score of 92 but a net score of 76."
